Enjoy a day out visiting The King's Gallery which is located adjacent to Buckingham Palace, on the site of what was once a private chapel for Queen Victoria.
The chapel was destroyed in an air raid in 1940, and at the suggestion of Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh it was developed as an art gallery for the Royal Collection in 1962.
In 1997, a project began to expand and modernise the gallery, the most significant addition to Buckingham Palace in 150 years. The King's Gallery was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in May 2002 as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, and today it hosts a programme of changing exhibitions from the Royal Collection.

An impressive historic building in London, The Royal Horseguards Hotel is situated on the River Thames at the Embankment.
It encompasses two iconic buildings: The National Liberal Club which has played host to historical icons including Churchill, Gladstone and Lloyd-George; and the club’s magnificent apartments which were previously the home of the first chief of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service.
Inside you’ll find Victorian grandeur combined with elegant, first-class contemporary comfort which sets The Royal Horseguards Hotel apart as one of the finest hotels near Westminster.

The King's Gallery is open Thursday to Monday, closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Royal Horseguards afternoon tea is served daily, at 1.00pm, 1.30pm, 3.00pm & 3.30pm. Excluding bank holidays and selected days throughout the year.
The King's Gallery lasts around 1 hour and the Afternoon Tea around 1 hour also.
This experience is for two people, there will be others there on the day.

The gallery had a lot of interesting displays and information about the Edwardian period. We enjoyed an excellent 2 course meal at the impressive Royal Household Hotel. Overall a very enjoyable experience for celebrating our Golden Wedding anniversary.

My partner and l had a wonderful day out in September. We enjoyed the exhibition called Royal Portraits: A Century of Photography, at The King's Gallery. It was a fascinating display of black/ white and colour photos. The staff were all friendly and helpful too. This was followed by a wonderful lunch at The Royal Horseguards Hotel. All our courses were delicious. We started with beetroot gravadlax and burrata heirloom tomato followed by mains of seabass and chicken dishes. Our desserts of raspberry Eton mess and cake were marvellous. The Pinot Rosato Principato glasses of wine were very good as well. Our waiter Raja was friendly and helpful and very professional. He took some nice photos of us too. There was a very good atmosphere in the restaurant as well. We would recommend this experience very highly.

My partner and I had a marvellous day out. The Queen's Gallery is very impressive and we really enjoyed the Holbein exhibition. The Royal Horseguards Hotel is a hidden gem behind Whitehall. Our lunch was delicious. The restaurant was very comfortable and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Altogether a great day out.
