Your day will vary depending on which of our animal experience days you choose. Whilst most of our animal encounters take place in a zoo or a wildlife park, you can also choose to enjoy a llama trek on a farm in Devonshire. Please keep in mind that while the majority of the gift experiences are for two people to enjoy, and the Meet the Llamas experience is suitable for four people.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll at Capel Manor Zoo and Gardens, in the company of their charming Alpacas. These delightful Alpacas have all been trained to walk on a halter, making them the perfect companions for an enjoyable and unique outing. There will be lots of opportunities to capture memorable moments, so be sure to take a camera.
Alpacas are highly intelligent creatures known for their gentleness and ease of handling. Each one has a distinct personality, contributing to their unique charm. Despite their shyness, they are curious and intelligent. As herd animals, they establish connections based on their roles within their herd.
In a small group of three, with two Alpacas, participants will interact, walk alongside, and even feed these joyful Alpacas. An experienced zookeeper will be present to offer valuable insights into their behaviours, enhancing the encounter with an educational aspect.
Capel Manor College Zoo and Gardens offer an array of activities. Following the enjoyable thirty-minute Alpaca walk, you can explore the other animals on-site, walk around the holly maze and walled gardens, or simply unwind at the café.

This experience is based on East Devon’s spectacular Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural world heritage site and an area of outstanding natural beauty. Located just outside the Regency seaside town of Sidmouth, the venue is ideally situated to take full advantage of the stunning scenery on this beautiful stretch of the East Devon Coastline.
Your experience will start with a meet and greet with the llamas. You will receive a demonstration about llamas, their characteristics and handling and grooming techniques. Next you will groom the llamas themselves with brushes and if the weather is nice you can then have some time in the paddock with the llamas. If the weather is cold or raining you can do some indoor clicker training with the llamas.

Following a brief health and safety briefing, a meerkat specialist takes charge, introducing them to these fascinating creatures and providing insightful information. The specialist oversees the interaction, ensuring it is safe and enjoyable. Participants are also provided with a small tub of delicious mealworms or tasty fruit to feed the meerkats.

Father Christmas isn’t the only person to be friends with reindeer! With this experience two lucky people are able to spend some time with these magical creatures.
The session will start with an informative talk which is filled with plenty of interesting reindeer facts as well as a few health and safety tips. The ranch owner will demonstrate how to care for and feed the reindeer before it’s time to spend some quality time with one of Santa’s elite sleigh pulling team. There will be plenty of opportunities to take some wonderful pictures with their new fuzzy nosed friend when they feed them special lichen by hand.
After their time with the reindeer they will receive a warming hot chocolate with marshmallows each and have the opportunity to take a stroll around the ranch to meet all the other animal residents, ranging from emus, pigs, skunks to horses, and of course, the friendly snow dogs. A friendly reindeer herder is always on hand to answer any burning questions.

Owls are seen to have an aura of mystery surrounding them. Whilst some are best known for their nocturnal habits, others are known for their hunting techniques and sheer size and power.
With this 90 minute experience, you will have the opportunity to handle, fly and work with a variety of species of owls such as the iconic Barn Owl, the impressive Verreaux's Eagle Owl and the Great Grey Owl and will learn about a small handful of the 200+ species of owls from around the globe.
On arrival you and your guest will be greeted by a friendly staff member and given an introductory briefing.
You will then be fitted with a gauntlet, ready to fly these magical creatures. Then it’s time to meet the owls, where you will be given instructions on how to handle them safely before you fly them under the supervision of your expert tutor. You will get to fly owls such as Barn Owls, Indian Rock Owls, Siberian Eagle owls and more.
Your tutor will go on to teach you about the owl’s distinctive personalities, what they like to eat & give you some interesting facts about their natural habitat.

This hands-on experience for two provides an opportunity to learn how to care and look after a pony under expert supervision. Everything from grooming, hoof-care, stretching and feeding. The horses and ponies homed at The Ancient Trails Company were previously rescued by the RSPCA, they are now very happy in their wonderful new home where the team are passionate about their horses and firmly believe in the therapeutic benefits horses provide.
Under the expert supervision of your guide, you will learn grooming techniques with various brushes and how to check for stray objects in the horse's hooves. Weather depending, you may even be able to give the horse a refreshing bath. Learn how the horse’s daily stretches prepare them to work, whilst you feed them one of their favourite treats - carrots. Further to grooming, you'll be able to guide your horse through an obstacle course and possibly braid their mane and tail.

The pygmy goat kids, and even the adults, love to play. They’re friendly, animated, and fun-loving creatures and this fun experience is an ideal gift for any animal lover.
As a group of three they’ll be able to interact and feed these fun-loving creatures, with a knowledgeable zookeeper on hand to provide valuable insights into the goat’s behaviour, adding an educational touch to the encounter.
There lots to see and do at Capel Manor College Zoo and Gardens, so after thirty minutes of fun playing with the goats, you can meet the other animals onsite, wander through the holly maze and walled gardens, or relax at their café.

This is your chance to experience an amazing hour where you will have the chance to swim with prehistoric creatures.
Croc's R Us is an educational experience based business, which enjoys showing the opposite side of the public perception of the Crocodile and Alligator, by showing people an up close experience of these awesome creatures.
Upon arrival you will have a meet and greet with the reptile handlers and be given a brief overview of what to expect in the experience. You'll then get changed and be introduced to the crocs where you will swim amongst them for 30 minutes. There will be plenty of photo opportunities and you’ll receive a souvenir photograph of you and the croc to take home as a keepsake.
After your experience, you’ll have the chance to look at some of the other reptiles including some of their deadly venomous snakes.

This Alpaca walking experience is perfect gift for an animal lover.
Alpacas are related to the llama, they’re friendly, timid yet inquisitive, unable to cope for long without other alpacas, and all so very individual in character they’re curious while out walking and enjoy looking around and meeting people.
With this experience for four people, each person will get the opportunity to feed an alpaca and take them on a short stroll around the farm. The expert guide will initially run through a safety briefing and then be on hand to share their knowledge and answer questions about these curious creatures.
Pennybridge Alpacas is based in North Hampshire, near to the Berkshire and Surrey borders, its a beautiful spot for a walk in the open air and to spend some time with the alpaca.

This is a fun packed day for two animal lovers.
The experience begins at 11am with a brief introduction from the experienced guide before a 60 minute guided VIP tour of the centre where you will get to meet the pigs, sheep, alpacas and birds of prey with the keeper on hand to tell you about the animal, their characters, habitat and to answer your questions.
Around noon you will enjoy front row seats for an amazing birds of prey display. See these amazing birds soar silently through the air as you admire the relationship they have with their handers.
After a well-deserved break for your home made packed lunch, which you can enjoy in fresh air or undercover picnic areas you’ll be able handling a Bird of Prey for yourself as well as meeting the incredible Huskies!
