For the animal fan in your life, an encounter with their favourite furry, scaly or feathery creature is sure to please. You can choose from a variety of animal experiences, including meeting some adorable critters with a meerkat encounter or a daring swim with a crocodile. These experiences are a great chance to learn more about some of the most intriguing mammals, birds and reptiles out there, and make great gifts for animal lovers of all ages.
Your day will vary depending on which of our ten different animal experience days you choose. While most of our animal encounters take place in a zoo or a wildlife park, you can also choose to enjoy a cream tea on a llama farm in Devonshire. Please keep in mind that while the majority of the gift experiences are for two people to enjoy, and the Meet the Llamas experience is suitable for four people.
Nestled away in 32 acres of woodland and paddocks in the heart of rural Shropshire, Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom is a small family run zoo located on the outskirts of Telford. With animals such as meerkats, lemurs, snakes and owls and even African wildcats, the zoo is a fantastic day out for people of all ages.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by a friendly member of the Hoo Farm team, who will allow you to get up close and personal with four top predators from three different continents. During this hour long experience, you will get to stroke the servals, feed the foxes, pat one of the owls and pet a Burmese python.
You will be accompanied by an experienced and knowledgeable member of staff at all times who will be more than happy to answer any questions that you have.
Participants must be able bodied and 10 years or older.

This is a fascinating introduction to an ancient and intriguing pursuit. See for yourself an extraordinary relationship between man and bird of prey. Falconry was originally introduced as a means of obtaining "food for the table". In Medieval Britain birds of prey were often present at grand occasions such as pageants, weddings and jousting tournaments. Even today seeing these magnificent birds up close is a very special experience and one which you won't forget.
You will be given an overview of the disciplines and history of falconry by one of the country's best falconers, followed by a brief introduction to the husbandry and welfare of birds and the equipment used in falconry. The course will end with the opportunity to fly a bird "to the fist" so you can experience the unforgettable sensation of having a magnificent bird of prey on your arm. Programmes vary depending on location.

Your falconry encounter will last approximately 3 hours.

Seize the opportunity to get up close and personal with one of Africa’s big cats. This unforgettable 20 minute experience gives you the opportunity to meet two servals, Zeus and Duma. Recognised by their bold spotted black on tawny fur, servals are the second fastest cat reaching speeds of up to 50mph, as well as being able to jump 9 feet high. However, there’s no need to be scared as they love human attention and will happily nuzzle up to you.
After you have met the servals you will then meet a family of meerkats, letting them climb and play all over you and you will also meet two Black and White ruffed lemurs.
Your experienced keeper will ensure your safety with the animals at all times and help you gain the most out of your experience. Don't forget your camera to capture this exotic experience!

You are welcome to take friends and family along to watch, although normal admission prices apply.
Come and meet a playful troop of lemurs, with bright orange eyes and a long tail you'll have a job to miss these exceptional creatures. You’ll be able to enter the enclosure and give them their feed whilst learning about their unique characters from the specialist keeper.
Depending on your chosen location you will meet either ring-tailed, red ruffed or black and white ruffed lemurs.
Bring your camera, this is a fantastic chance to get a great snap of these amazing creatures who are always willing to strike a pose!
Once you arrive you will head straight for the lemur enclosure. After a health and safety briefing, you will need to wash your hands before entering the enclosure. The lemur specialist will be on hand to give you insightful information and oversee you as you interact with the animals. You will be given a small tub of insects, eggs, fruit, veg or cat biscuits to feed the lemurs with.
You may also receive an adoption pack for one or for two, depending on location.

Llamas are unique animals, they're easy to train, they can be very sociable and they are protective of themselves and their herd. On this experience you will get to learn their fascinating history, how to handle them and their behaviour towards humans and other llamas. Llamas are friendly, gentle and intelligent animals and make ideal walking companions. If you love your animals, the llama is definitely one you should meet.
This experience is based on East Devon’s spectacular Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural world heritage site and an area of outstanding natural beauty. Located just outside the Regency seaside town of Sidmouth, the venue is ideally situated to take full advantage of the stunning scenery on this beautiful stretch of the East Devon Coastline.
Your experience will start with a meet and greet with the llamas. You will receive a demonstration about llamas, their characteristics and handling and grooming techniques. Next you will groom the llamas themselves with brushes and if the weather is nice you can then have some time in the paddock with the llamas. If the weather is cold or raining you can do some indoor clicker training with the llamas.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet a real group of meerkats. You will get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures and spend quality time really getting to know the animals as they climb all over you and feed from your hands! Each meerkat has its own individual character that is a joy to discover.
At some locations you will also have the opportunity to explore the rest of the zoo/park at your own leisure.
Once you arrive you will head straight for the meerkat enclosure. After a health and safety briefing, you will need to wash your hands before entering the enclosure. The meerkat specialist will be on hand to give you insightful information and oversee you as you interact with the animals. You will be presented with a small tub of meal worms or fruit to feed the meerkats with.

Owls are seen to have an aura of mystery surrounding them. Whilst some are best known for their nocturnal habits, others are known for their hunting techniques and sheer size and power.
With this 90 minute experience, you will have the opportunity to handle, fly and work with a variety of species of owls such as the iconic Barn Owl, the impressive Verreaux's Eagle Owl and the Great Grey Owl and will learn about a small handful of the 200+ species of owls from around the globe.
On arrival you and your guest will be greeted by a friendly staff member and given an introductory briefing.
You will then be fitted with a gauntlet, ready to fly these magical creatures. Then it’s time to meet the owls, where you will be given instructions on how to handle them safely before you fly them under the supervision of your expert tutor. You will get to fly owls such as Barn Owls, Indian Rock Owls, Siberian Eagle owls and more.
Your tutor will go on to teach you about the owl’s distinctive personalities, what they like to eat & give you some interesting facts about their natural habitat.
Throughout this experience there will be plenty of photo opportunities, so don't forget your camera!

You are welcome to bring one spectator per participant, free of charge.
This is your chance to experience an amazing hour where you will have the chance to swim with prehistoric creatures.
Upon arrival you will have a meet and greet with the reptile handlers and be given a brief overview of what to expect in the experience. You'll then get changed and be introduced to the crocs where you will swim amongst them for 30 minutes. There will be plenty of photo opportunities and you’ll receive a souvenir photograph of you and the croc to take home as a keepsake.
After your experience, you’ll have the chance to look at some of the other reptiles including some of their deadly venomous snakes.
This experience is available Monday to Saturday, April to October.
This experience will last approximately 1 hour.
