Ford Gran Torino Blast

Take a 3 mile drive in the Ford Torino, made famous by the 70s TV show Starsky and Hutch. The Ford Torino, produced for the North America market between 1968 and 1976. The car was named after the Italian city of Turin, (Torino in Italian). So this is your chance to be 'Starsky'!

Upon arriving at the venue, you will be signed on and given a driver’s safety briefing. After which you will be shown to this iconic American car. Ever since it stormed onto the motoring scene in the swinging sixties, the Jaguar E-Type became an instant classic and the pinnacle of British automobile design. With its recognisable long and slender bonnet, combined with its sleek curved wheel arches, The E-Type is the epitome of class and style. It is a truly stunning car, not just to look at, but also to drive. It’s easy to see why Her Majesty The Queen is a fan of the E-Type, and legendary car manufacturer Enzo Ferrari himself graciously admitted that the vehicle was the "most beautiful car in the world". Just being up close to this gorgeous car is a privilege in itself, but actually getting to drive one is something else altogether. Lotus Cortina Thrill
Description

The Ford Cortina is a in the early 60's, was a recognised as an inconspicuous, uninspiring and bland family saloon car. Ford instantly recognised that there was something else they could do with this car and so they paired up with Lotus Founder Colin Champman to work his magic and in 1963 the Ford Cortina Lotus was born. Two versions of this car were released, a road going version and a race spec version. The road going car revving to 8,000 RPM singing all the way to 108mph was like a rocket ship in the day and the race trim version eaking out to 145mph. The car was handed to Jim Clark, the recently crowned Formula 1 champion, who moonlighted as a Touring Car driver when time would permit. The car was as versatile as Clark, competing in rallying as well as Touring Car races. Jim Clark would make the car famous and Bruce Reynolds (The Great Train robbery) would make the car infamous, using the car to get away once the heist was complete!

On arrival you will receive a welcome, introduction and short briefing. You will then take to the wheel of the Lotus Cortina for 6 laps of driving depending on location. The programme varies depending upon location; please check upon booking. Please note, there will be a supplement fee if you choose to visit a premium venue.

I finally used my voucher for the E-Type Jaguar experience and it didn't dissapoint. The track could have been bigger and the insurance waiver wasn't necessary but is pushed quite hard. The sighting lap was in a minibus not the actual car which would have been good to see driver pushing car to limit. Otherwise, friendly staff and a fun hour!

Firstly, the staff were overall very friendly and helpful. However, coming a fair way form Brighton, the directions given to get to the airfield were not very specific enough and I believe the location had also been changed last minute. On different correspondence it was down as Abingdon then Abington on another. Anyway, having arrived late, I was worried that I would miss my slot. Thanks to the staff, I was advised that all was still good. I was stung with a around £25 waiver fee – this should have been advised beforehand and not as a hidden charge when you arrive. Then, my chosen car (General Lee) broke down. This was not a major problem as bad things happen in life and you just have to deal with it. However, a lack of decent communication as to the status of said broken down car and whether it would be back on the tack or not (and soon or not?) was a bit of an issue. Only after asking members of staff a couple of times was it confirmed that the car was in fact off the road for the foreseeable future. Finally, as chosen car was now not an option, some sort of compensation should of been offered like a few extra laps in another car to make up for it. Overall good but certain elements of the day spoilt the overall wow factor.

Charging for absolutely everything. £25 in case of damage ( not informed prior to buying gift voucher) Photographs £10 each Twenty minute tutorial £10 Sat in heat for 45 minute after being told to arrive 30 minutes early whilst employees were undercover of tent . Extreme heat prior to drive not good ! Told that 5 to 6 cars on track …there were 8! Had 4 laps instead of 8 Complete rip off and spoiled gift. Would not recommend
