All aboard! Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime when you travel back in time with our steam train experience for two.
Steam trains are an iconic part of British history, dating back over 200 years to 1804 when Cornishman Richard Trevithick invented the steam engine. Over the next 40 years, Trevithick’s idea was developed into a network covering over 2,440 miles and ferrying more than 30 million passengers within the UK.
Today, Britain boasts more railway attractions per square mile than any other country in the world. With over 100 heritage railways, 700 working steam trains, and 60 steam train museums, you will be sure to experience the grandeur of Trevithick’s invention.
Hop aboard with a steam train day trip for two. As you travel through rolling hills and lush fields, you’ll feel like you've stepped back in to a time when life was simpler. So, sit back and relax as you meander through unspoilt English countryside.

Nene Valley Railway (Peterborough, Cambridgeshire)

What did you get up to?
We really enjoyed our day out on Nene Valley's steam train. The conductor was very knowledgeable and entertaining, having us laughing loads throughout the journey. The team were also very friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. We got to see the beautiful Peterborough countryside and had the chance to stop at different train stations to take photos of the steam engine and explore the traditional carriages which have been well maintained. Although we were sad to see Thomas the Tank Engine was not feeling too well we wished him a swift recovery! I would definitely recommend this experience as a unique gift for someone, especially if they have an interest in Britain's heritage, or even for yourself if you fancy a day out with a difference.
What did you enjoy the most?
I loved hopping on and off the train to explore different stations.
