The Mk1 Escort RS Blast is an experience designed to give participants a chance to take to the track behind the wheel of such an instantly recognisable car. Participants will be greeted with a tea or coffee, the perfect accompaniment to their safety briefing which will be followed by a tour of the track to familiarise themselves with the layout and prepare them for what lies ahead.

Then it’s time to get into the driver’s seat and experience the magic of the Mk1 Escort for three laps/miles of the track. An instructor will be on hand in the passenger seat to explain the racing lines, provide advice and offer encouragement to those who are keen to demonstrate their driving prowess.

• When can I go?

  This experience is available on selected dates subject to availability, throughout the year.

• How long will my experience last?

  This experience will last approximately 1½ hours.

• How many people is this experience for?

  This experience is for one person, there will be other people there on the day.

• Can I bring family and friends?

  You are welcome to bring friends and family to watch you take to the track!

• What else do I need to know?

  • The minimum age is 17 years old.

  • Drivers must be fit and healthy and not suffer from any conditions that may impact their ability to drive the car safely. Maximum weight is 20st (127kg). Minimum height is 135cm (4ft 5").

  • You will be required to hold a full UK or European manual driving licence which must have been held for at least one year with no serious offences, this will need to be presented on the day.

  • The person driving the car will be required to sign a disclaimer accepting liability in the event of damage to the vehicle. The driver will be given an option to purchase damage waiver cover when booking to minimise their financial exposure should there be an accident. Drivers are under no obligation to purchase this optional waiver. Full details are available at the time of booking.

  • This is for a voucher entitling the holder to any of the activities supplied by Activity Superstore up to the value stated.

  I purchased this as an anniversary gift for my husband. A MK1 escort was his first car. Unfortunately two days before he was due to take it round the track in Abingdon someone crashed it. Car chase heroes that we booked with were amazing. They changed the car for a Lamborghini Spyder. Hubby got to drive an amazing car. The staff there were amazing. The day was well organised. The instructors were so helpful. We purchased a gift pack of professional pictures and a video of my Husband driving the “General Lee” from the Dukes of Hazzard series. All in all a phenomenal day and we cannot wait to book the next one. Highly recommend this activity day

  Went to the track. The car I booked wasn’t there and was told I’d have to pay more to drive most of the other cars. Not contacted to say there was any issues.

  Not overly impressed with the fact that the mk1 escort doesn't run a ford engine apparently it uses a Mazda one, also I think the instructors should know abit about the history of the cars they are in for the purpose of car enthusiasts asking questions, I also think being charged an extra £25 for picking a weekend date is ridiculous when the voucher has a value of £60 and the mk1 experience is only £30 and then to be made to feel like you have to spend another £29 for the damage waiver is abit naughty, so overall 3 laps of this track worked out to be £114 in total. Overall just disappointed with how greed overtakes the driving experience for a petrolhead like myself
