Not a steam train experience

No I do not recommend this product.
We were very excited to go on this Steam Train Experience, bought for me by my son, then a university student, so at £34 quite expensive for him. We chose the Nene Valley Raiway as our location because it is about 50 mins drive from where we live. The station at Wansford was delightful, very quaint, and a lot of original details. But to our great disappointment, the train was not a steam train. Being a Steam Train Experience, we expected a steam train. Very disappointing indeed. We have decided not to tell our son that it was not a steam train, as he would probably be even more disappointed than we were. I actually feel sad that he forked out for this experience in good faith, from his limited funds, being a university student. For these reasons,I would not recommend your experiences to anyone else

Enjoyed the day and reflections of years gone by.however disappointed with the route. A high percentage of the trip was through embanked countryside and trees blocking the view of the local countryside

A nice experience. We got this as a present. The train ride was only 1.6 miles long. View only at the end. I understand that it costs a lot of money to run these trains so can understand the cost.
Not really worth travelling from Bristol unless you love steam trains.

My husband and I were given the experience as a present. We were really disappointed with the train ride! The train only ran for about 5 mins each way the rest of the time was taken up by the engine changing ends! There was a model railway and a cafe at the railway station.

Nene valley railway always a good day it was Thomas weekend as well not as busy as I expected. Wish there was more choice of places to go all other options were a good distance away but still enjoyable

We thoroughly enjoyed our morning. We took the short ride in Thomas then had a coffee break with a very nice piece of cake. We then took another steam train ride to Peterborough and back, most enjoyable. We had a wander around the old trains and visited the large workshop to see the restorations in progress
