One Night Pod Break - Relaxing Break in the Country

Description

Camping can be great fun and a good way to get away from daily stresses and get closer to nature. However, putting tents up in the rain is not everyone's idea of fun. The alternative is a cozy camping pod! The pods resemble wooden huts and have many advantages over most tents. For a start they are guaranteed to stay dry inside, and you can even stand up! Some are even heated and have an electricity supply. If you're looking to get closer to nature a camping pod break is a perfect break for two people.

This voucher entitles two adults to a night's accommodation in a camping pod, however, you can book additional nights at an extra fee on booking. Camping pods are generally empty shells so for comfort we recommend you take blow up beds and bedding. Please note at some locations there is a minimum two night stay at weekends or at certain times of the year. Please note, at the Whitehill Country Park - Paignton location you are unable to take pets.

What did your experience entail?
For this experience, we attended a 2 night pod stay at Whitehill County Park; this is a wonderful holiday park located in Paigton, Devon. When we arrived, we were given the keys to our room along with a map of the park, and shown where all facilities were located, along with an itinerary of activities that were happening over the park (his ranged from kid’s arts and crafts to adults’ pottery, wildlife encounters and more).
We got settled into our room, and firstly chose to go to the outdoor pool/hot tub which was on site – this is free for all guests.
For dinner, we attended a steak restaurant which was roughly a 3 minute drive away; we would highly recommend this location for dinner. After our dinner, we then came back to the main entertainment room to play bingo, this was highly enjoyable and popular with all guests.
What did you enjoy the most?

    We arrived at the hotel shown to room 203 the window was wide open and it was cold and raining we went down for evening meal when came back in the room there was a 4 poster bed and it was full of dust and cobwebs all over all the other furniture was dust I got up in the middle of the night had to open the window because of the fusty smell the old iderdown weighed a ton we have reported it to the hotel they came up with silly excuses the mirror which was very large looked like it had fallen of the wall and they had just leaned it against the wall right were you walked to the toilet very dangerous this hotel is a disscusting place and should have been checked by your company before putting it in your booklet in the pack

    This was the worst b&b experience ever ... On arrival the walnut tree inn looked nice and there was ample parking at the rear unfortunately on leaving the car we were met with the sound of a high speed train passing by the front of the property no more than 200 metres away and then by a second train before me managed to reach reception this was to set the tone of our visit.... literally! The decor in the reception area was to a very nice standard as was the eating areas to either side and we had high expectations for our room, the member of staff was welcoming and friendly but we were taken aback when they insisted on taking payment in advance for the extra night we had booked, something I have never been asked for before or since. We were then shown to our room at the front of the property and we were so stunned by the sight of it we were left speechless, the dark purple feature wall, brown carpet, grey curtains and mismatched 1970's wooden furniture was certainly not what we were expecting, we were shook from the sight of the room by the passing of another train and then another and another in fact every 15 minutes until about 4am when they became half hourly it was now apparent why they took payment in advance for the 2and night! At 7am I went to reception and complained and was assured we would be moved to another room at the back of the property once we had breakfast which was due to be delivered to the room at 9, by 25 past 9 we were on the verge of walking out when it arrived or at least some of it did, given the miserly portions it felt like we were on rations. The 2nd room was slightly better than the first still dated but no garish feature wall thankfully. On the 2nd morning we decided to have breakfast in the dining area, easier on the eye but unfortunately no more filling on the stomach, no fruit just a limited choice of cereal or English breakfast one or the other, we chose the latter it was cooked to perfection including the poached egg it tasted nice but one sausage one bacon one egg four cherry tomatoes and a spoonful of beans with a single slice of toast was never going to set us up for the day. Overall a very disappointing experience and if any business should go under due to covid 19 this is it! harsh but true.

I'm sorry to hear that you were not aware the location of the hotel, when giving the address of the property it does state it is on 'Station Road' and if this was missed I can understand how this may have set the tone for the rest of your stay. In regards to your stay; I'm happy to hear that you did enjoy the breakfast that you were served as you had described a 'cooked to perfection' english breakfast, I can only apologise on behalf of the venue if you felt it was on the small side. I'm also glad to hear that the staff at the hotel were more than happy to move you to a more comfortable room as the first room was not to your taste. In response to the end of your review, I'm very sorry that you feel this way even if you felt the experience was disappointing.     I was bought this as a gift, so felt I had to use it. But would have been better pretending I'd been, as still had to lie about enjoying it! There was no choice when I came to book, with the closest property about 1 hour and 45 minutes away, the next closest probably another hour and half. The room was cold and tiny and the pub didn't have much atmosphere. Though of course a thriving establishment wouldn't need to join this type of scheme.

    The relaxing break in the country voucher was bought by my daughter for my husband and I for Christmas. All I can say is check the reviews of the hotel before you attend, it was terrible. I could have booked the hotel myself direct for half the price and there was a reason for that! The room was very basic, dining area walls filthy, we were woke in the middle of the night by fire alarm, had no sleep, I could go on and on. I have already made a complaint about this but have been told nothing will be fine about it. Definitely do not recommend the activity superstore!
