Ever heard the phrase “there’s beauty in the broken”? That’s the philosophy behind Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing pottery with golden resin, transforming cracks into celebrated features. This workshop in Kensal Rise offers a unique and thoughtful introduction to this ancient craft.
Under the guidance of a skilled instructor, you’ll take a broken piece of porcelain—be it a vase, bowl, or plate—and carefully mend its fractures. The process involves applying resin and gold powder, embracing imperfections as part of the object's history rather than something to hide. It’s a methodical, meditative experience that combines art with mindfulness.
Perfect for creatives, romantics, or anyone keen to turn shattered pieces into shining treasures, this workshop includes all materials. You can also bring your own beloved broken item, though time may limit how much you can complete. Held monthly in the charming Kensal Rise area, this 2-hour session is an ideal gift for one or two people.

This experience runs monthly on Saturdays, Tuesdays or Thursdays evenings, subject to availability.
This experience will typically last 90 minutes.
This experience is for one person. Class sizes vary but are typically between 8-12 attendees.
The minimum age is 18 years old.
You will be provided with all the kit needed for this workshop. You can bring your own china but they can't guarantee it'll be finished on time.

What a fun class! Claire was very helpful and patient and the technique is fairly easy when you have someone there to give you the tips you need. We took one item with us to mend and used one that Claire provided. Both worked out really well and we were really pleased with the results. We both felt like we learned enough to do it well at home in the future and we took home two beautiful Kinsugi artefacts to display. A great evening & good value too.
