Afternoon Tea for Two Gift Experience

Description

Indulge in a quintessentially British pastime with a spot of Afternoon Tea for Two, the perfect gift experience. The 19th century tradition is enjoying something of a modern-day revival with venues all over the UK now serving up scrumptious scones, delicious cakes and savoury delights.

It’s been an institution since 1840 when the seventh Duchess of Bedford asked her footman to fetch a pot of tea with light refreshments one afternoon. The ritual soon caught on and traditional afternoon tea became a cornerstone of high society dining.

Today, it’s best known as an afternoon of sheer indulgence – and it hasn’t lost a crumb of its delectable charm. Find out for yourself with our afternoon tea deal. We’ve carefully hand-picked the best afternoon tea locations across the UK so there’s a venue to suit all occasions.

Spoil someone special to a luxury afternoon tea, round up the girls for high tea at one of the country’s trendiest boutique hotels, or make it a more relaxed affair at a cosy independent tearoom. Whatever the occasion, why not add a glass of fizz to the proceedings?

Afternoon tea may vary slightly depending on your chosen location. In any case, you’ll be treated to freshly made sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, and at most locations, a choice of cakes and pastries. Most importantly, it’ll all be served with a pot of tea or coffee.

Afternoon Tea with Bubbly For Two at Katie's Tearoom

Description

If there’s anything better than enjoying the luxury that is an afternoon tea, then it is doing so in a tea room which encapsulates the very essence of this popular tradition!

The Grade II listed building which dates back to the 14th Century is even older than the idea of afternoon tea itself. The sandstone walls and exposed beams would already have been period features when the Duchess of Bedford was pioneering her gatherings of friends for sandwiches and cake between meals.

This afternoon tea experience is a chance to sample a taste of the high life, with just a touch of wanton extravagance thrown in. It’s a perfect experience for anyone using this as a chance to recharge their batteries after a morning exploring Chester, whether they’ve been seeing the sights or just doing a little shopping in the vibrant town centre.

This afternoon tea has just the right balance of savoury sandwiches and freshly baked cakes, making it feel a deliciously indulgent way to spend an afternoon.

Guests will enjoy unlimited tea or coffee to accompany their selection of finger sandwiches and fruit scones which are served with butter, jam and Rhodda’s traditional Cornish clotted cream with freshly sliced strawberries. There is also a choice of cakes all made from the freshest ingredients which make these mouth-watering morsels truly tempting.

With such an array of dainty delicacies and a selection of sweet treats, the addition of a glass of bubbly makes this the perfect way to enjoy a refined celebration or just a chance to spend some quality time together

Cider Farm Tour and Tasting for Four

Description

Dorset Nectar Cider was born when a couple originally invested in a barn as space for sculpture work in 2006, which just so happened to play host to 3000 prime cider apple trees. Also included was a contract with Gaymers sparking the beginning of Dorset Nectar’s cider production. Soon the contract with Gaymers was cancelled as more and more cider was produced to supply the growing demand for their craft cider. They proceeded to produce cider commercially which has proved incredibly successful.

Now producing 14 different ciders, today Dorset Nectar pride themselves on their passion for crafting high-quality ciders using their own orchards and local growers, which they’ve received several prestigious national and local awards for. They’re also a constant driver of innovation and the creation of new flavour blends for visitors to enjoy.

The tour will take you and three guests from the tasting room to the orchards. You will start with a stroll through the orchards fields, discussing the orcharding techniques and practices on the organic farm. Once you are fully clued up on the farming process, you will visit the various cider barns and witness apple harvesting, pressing and the washing facilities. To finish off, you will have the chance to taste up to 12 award-winning ciders, with one of the resident cider masters on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Caffe Concerto, London

Matt from Accounts, May 2023

What did your experience entail?
I took my Mum to Café Concerto in Green Park, London for a Deluxe Afternoon Tea. Luckily, after the grey skies and rain of the previous few weeks, we were treated to a sunny blue-sky day as we headed into the city.
On arrival, we were greeted by the friendly staff and shown to our table. The bifold windows at the front of the restaurant were fully open and this gave a very cosmopolitan feel to the setting. My mum also commented on the grand chandeliers, which created an elegant ambiance as waited for our tea to be served.

Our Afternoon Tea was served, with 3 tiers of delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and a tantalizing selection of sweet treats to top it all off. The sandwich fillings included cucumber and cream cheese & smoked salmon with capers and lemon. Our favourite sandwich though was the chicken with sundried tomato. We then moved onto the scones, which were still warm and beautifully fluffy. Mum went Jam then cream, but for me it has to be cream then jam!
Leaving the best till last, we had one final treat of velvety chocolate pastries, macaroons and delicate fruit tarts which were all bursting with fantastic flavours!

After our tea, we walked across Green Park to Buckingham Place to see if the King was home! It was great to see all the union flags still lining the Mall, which topped off our very Royal day out in the capital!

Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The food was amazing, the staff were very attentive, and the Great British weather even played its part in giving us a day to remember.
What did you enjoy the most?
The food and company!

Top Tip
1. Make sure you have an empty stomach before you go, as you won’t want to leave any of those amazing pastries!
2. Make the most of your day in the city and go visit the King!
3. Remember your camera.
