This experience is for two people, there will be other people there on the day.

What did your experience entail?
We were given an Afternoon Tea menu where we could choose one sandwich filling described as “chunky” finger sandwiches in white or wholemeal brown from 8 choices which included meat and non meat varieties. A choice of scone, cheese or fruit, and a choice of cake from 7 different varieties. Beverages included English breakfast tea, fruit or mint teas, or a cafetiere of coffee (refills included) with the option to upgrade to include prosecco. As we had the Deluxe voucher we were also given a small bottle of prosecco each with a glass. After choosing our options we were presented with a three-tier plate stand each of which stood in the middle of the table with our food displayed. We had separate plates and cutlery to use for each course.
What did you enjoy the most?
The food all looked and tasted great and as we had chosen differing items we could try each others from the central tiers giving a bit more variety to the meal.
1. Make sure not to eat too much beforehand – there is plenty of food! We were full after the sandwiches and the scones and the staff kindly wrapped up our cakes in foil and placed them in a small white paper bag so we could bring home to eat later.
2. Booking in advance is advised as they do fill quickly inside 7 tables only, On a nicer day the garden looks lovely and gives another 7 tables outside.
3. A very nice location to come too with family and / or friends for a special occasion or just for tea and cake as all the products are lovely.

The venue was downstairs in the base of an old church. Went all around town to find it and asked several passers by. Eventually we found it but they had no table ready for us even though we were booked in days before. We were put in a dark corner, no table cloth. The afternoon tea came on a wooden platter not a lovely cake stand as expected and no nice teapot or cups. Very dissapointing would not recomend.

It suited us to have our afternoon tea experience at 12.30pm rather than mid-afternoon and we were shown to a huge room in which we ate our tea alone. Staff were very pleasant and attentive and brought us more tea when requested. The amount of food provided looked a little sparse when it arrived but we couldn't have eaten any more and did not need to ask for a box for anything left over, since there wasn't. Obviously the hotel got the amount just right. I had expected to sit at a table with a white tablecloth rather than in armchairs at a coffee table with a view of traffic driving past, and would have been disappointed had this been for an anniversary or birthday. Our local garden centre makes afternoon tea more of a special occasion.
