What did you get up to?
My husband and I recently visited the quirky 17th Century Charles Cotton Country House Hotel, for a lovely one night break in the heart of the Peak District.
We arrived in the evening, and after a quick change decided to go down for drinks in the bar before having dinner in the restaurant area. It was a surprisingly vibrant atmosphere despite the small village location and we enjoyed a delicious home cooked 3 course meal each, before wandering out to the village for an evening walk and a few more drinks in another local pub.
In the morning we had a choice of tables to sit at in the impressive ornate dining hall, all overlooking the beautiful village square, and enjoyed our Derbyshire cooked breakfast.
What did you enjoy the most?
Without doubt the best part of this was exploring the surroundings. The hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring the Peak District, and after our breakfast we decided to join a few other guests on one of the famous local walks.
Top Tip
1. Make a full weekend of it, arriving as early as possible the day you check in, or staying in the area a little longer on the day you check out, so that you have time to fully explore and appreciate the stunning Peak district
2. I would recommend the restaurant for your evening dinner, delicious home cooked food!
3. Pop over the road to the cosy Devonshire Arms for a few drinks if you have time, and check out Hartington Farm Shop before heading home!
