Experience Day Review
Step back into the bygone era of rail travel as soon as you set foot in the ticket office at The Nene Valley Railway. A hop-on-hop-off ticket allows you to explore areas such as the Ferry Meadows Country Park. All the staff are volunteers and obviously love what they do and are therefore very friendly and informative.
If you choose to take the afternoon tea on the same day, a fifteen-minute walk from Peterborough station takes you to The Bull Hotel, a 17th Century, Grade II listed building. The tea is a good stop off on your train journey, but I wouldn’t choose it for a special occasion. The whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable and is highly recommended for a day out.”

We had a fantastic day out on the GWR steam train No 4144, travelling on the Nean Valley Railway. We travelled from Wansford to Peterborough and back and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The scenery was interesting especially along the River and the children on board were thrilled when we went through a tunnel. There were lots of activities being held on Wansford station as it was a Pirate day and being a nice hot day everyone was out to enjoy it. There is also a museum to look around and lots of other trains and carriages in the sidings. Would highly recommend this venue for your Steam Train experience.

Such a great experience. Like going back in time. All thd staff were very helpful and they all looked happy doing something they obviously love. There were sheep on the line and the train drivers assistant had to keep getting off and shooing them off the track. All such a slow and relaxing pace. Love to do it again
