Experience Day Review
Step back into the bygone era of rail travel as soon as you set foot in the ticket office at The Nene Valley Railway. A hop-on-hop-off ticket allows you to explore areas such as the Ferry Meadows Country Park. All the staff are volunteers and obviously love what they do and are therefore very friendly and informative.
If you choose to take the afternoon tea on the same day, a fifteen-minute walk from Peterborough station takes you to The Bull Hotel, a 17th Century, Grade II listed building. The tea is a good stop off on your train journey, but I wouldn’t choose it for a special occasion. The whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable and is highly recommended for a day out.”

Our experience at the Arden Hotel was brilliant, we were the only couple having the afternoon tea in the restaurant therefore we had the best service, no other clients in the restaurant. Parking is a nightmare but once sorted the afternoon went well.

My wife and I live in Mid Devon. The home of Cream Teas. How many venues in Devon and Cornwall can you get a Cream Tea. Hundreds of places. How many are signed up to the Activity Store. Just 3 places in total. We had to do a 90 mile round trip. At the end of the day it was a lovely Tea for two and exceeded our expectations. Lovely home made scones and cakes with sandwiches presented on a multi layer cake stand. Tea in a nice real tea pot with lovely cups and saucers. Joy. We had a good time and would do it again. We would recommend Caffyns Farm but wish it was a little closer to where we live.

I was given a voucher for my birthday and decided to use if for afternoon tea for my daughter and I. We had a very nice time at the Revolution Bar in Glasgow. The afternoon was different to the normal. We got 2 platters. One with 2 small cheeseburgers, 2 pieces of chicken and macaroni cheese bites. The second platter was warm pancakes with caramel sauce and chocolate brownies and tiramisu. Very tasty and washed down with a cocktail. A very nice mother and daughter afternoon.

On contacting the Railway Company to use the voucher I was told just to turn up at the booking office. At the booking office I was dealt with swiftly and given a ticket for the train. The train arrived and off we went after the conductor checked our tickets and secured the carriage doors. The first station is Gilfach Ddu where the slate museunm is, but closed at the moment for refurbishment, there is a gift shop and cafe here, toilets and a short walk into the woods. We then stop at the end of the lake where the engine moves round to take us back, we experience fantastic views of the lake and Yr Wyddfa, and stop at Cei Llydan station for a 5 minute break where we disembark and walk to the lake side and admire the castle at the end of the lake. From there we continue on our return journey and stop at Gilfach Ddu where the engine takes some water, we can also stay here if needed to use the facilities and catch a later train back to Llanberis station. 10/10

Nice location. Unfortunately unlike other afternoon teas I have had, there was no savoury stuff ie quiche, sausage roll. Couple of sandwiches then sweet stuff. Found it very sickly.
