Overview

Beautiful Burghley House is a magical home of magnificent State Rooms, awe-inspiring works of art and priceless treasures. One of the largest and grandest houses of the 16th Century, Burghley is the heart-felt legacy of William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I. Generations of his family have lived here ever since, ensuring this great House and Estate continues to thrive. Step inside the evocative Old Kitchen and tour the 18 magnificent State Rooms fit for a Queen. Discover treasures that fill every room before descending the Hell Staircase painted by Antonio Verrio and into the Great Hall, used as a banqueting hall in Elizabethan days. Find hidden trails, imaginative planting and Elizabethan trickery as you explore the Burghley Gardens and Deer Park with distinct atmosphere and beauty round every corner.

Once you have fully explored the house you can make your way to the grounds for a glorious “Last Night of the Proms” picnic concert featuring breathtaking displays like the legendary Grace Spitfire and the Red Devils Army Parachute team, plus a full piece orchestra playing iconic classics including the traditional flag-waving favourites such as Rule Britannia, 1812 Overture, Jerusalem and Land of Hope & Glory. To finish the evening off there will be a stunning show of pyrotechnics including dazzling fireworks and live fire from over 200 cannons. The music is guaranteed to make you wave your flag, sing out loud and even waltz under the stars!

You will need to book your concert and entrance tickets prior to visiting. Please note, the entrance is on the day of the proms only and is self-guided.

When you have booked, tickets for the proms and your stately home visit will be emailed to you to print at home.

For safety reasons, please note barbecues, garden flares and pets are not permitted at the concert. Aerial displays are subject to weather conditions. Most people bring a picnic although some public catering is available. There is no seating at these concerts so please bring along rugs or garden chairs. The use of recording equipment is prohibited and please allow sufficient time to park your car as no vehicles are allowed on the concert area. The concert car park opens at 2:00pm and gates to the concert arena open at 4:30pm.

Hi am I able to drive one of these vehicles with my ten year old daughter in the passenger seat or do I need to have an instructor in with me? Also if she is allowed in with just me would I then have to buy another experience voucher for her to ride along?
Thanks in advance See more »

Regrettably, our Triple Supercar Drive requires a professional racing instructor in the vehicle at all times, so we cannot accommodate additional passengers. However, your daughter can spectate from the track's side and if she wishes to join in on the day she could be booked for a separate Junior Driving Experience.

Battle Proms Concert

Yes I recommend this product.

The event itself was brilliant. So much entertainment and enjoyment throughout the whole afternoon and into the evening. A special thank you to all who performed, as it was a swelteringly hot day. Only downside for us was that we were not sent the tickets for the entrance to the house itself, so we could not experience that. I emailed the event address upon return home and was basically blown off, with them saying there was nothing they could do. Soured a wonderful experience if I am honest.
