Steam Train Experience for Two

Take in the British countryside aboard a wonderful steam train

Valid until: 1/8/2015

Product code: MTRA

Locations: 7

This is a fantastic chance for you and your guest to enjoy a relaxed, unhurried and civilised journey on a steam train. The steam train has been around for over 200 years moving passengers from place to place. Seeing the trains in all their glory brings a real sense of history to your day and there is always plenty to see, making this a great day out.

Once you arrive at the venue you will need to exchange your voucher at the ticket office for your steam train tickets. The experience varies depending on the location you choose. Some journeys are return trips whilst others are all day rover tickets, you may be able to stop off en route to explore the local area on foot. Please check exact details upon booking. Depending on the location you may be able to visit other attractions at the venue such as a steam train museum. Please note that the Cumbria location is a narrow gauge railway.

Enjoyed the steam train rides a lot, especially where they run through the surrounding fields and wooded area, albeit some of the grounds closer to the museum and stations might be called "work in progress". The Garden Centre was not visited.

Although I rang to confirm booking, no-one mentioned it was a non-steam day. I appreciate it is run by volunteers, but I had expected more. Very short journey. A disappointment.

Only drawback was the fact that it would have been cheaper to pay on the day.

Excellent day out, as many train rides as you like and a good value lunch in the cafe. Be good to return for the train driving day.

This is a welcoming, delightful place to visit. We enjoyed a tasty lunch at the café, and thought the station was beautifully maintained. The atmosphere was great - lots of excited families present, and enthusiastic staff - and the train made an impressive appearance. The line, although short, is charming, with an abundance of wild flowers. We loved the time spent at the end of the line, while the engine let off steam then moved away to return to the front of the train for the return journey. We alighted early in order to visit the engine sheds, and also liked the imposing Victorian Gents Toilet, which we passed on our walk back. The museum is very small and yet interesting.
