The Downe Arms, WykehamJono from Customer Support, September 2021

What did you get up to?
We decided to stay at The Downe Arms that is based just outside Scarborough in a little place called Wykeham, its only a 15 minute drive from Scarborough beach. The hotel’s grounds are pretty with seating outside for you to grab a drink and enjoy the evening.
Our stay was planned for a Sunday evening we arrived around 5pm and was greeted by a very friendly staff member that advised of our booking and the time we had arranged to have dinner. We decided to upgrade our room for £20.00 to a suit and I have to say that we were not disappointed. The bathroom was immaculate with a lovely free-standing bath and a separate stand up shower which was very spacious. The room itself was a good size with all the amenities you would need. The view overlooked the countryside and we were advised this was towards the main village of Wykeham.
We headed down for dinner at 8pm and there was a table reserved for us. We decided to start with a bottle of red. The food was nice and the menu was typical for a pub/hotel with enough choice for all tastes. We asked if we could change a couple of the sides of the mains, which was no issue at all.
We checked out fairly early and didn’t have breakfast but this was an option if we wished. We headed into Scarborough and picked the perfect day for it as the weather was fantastic! There was some places that served amazing sea food and we even took a speed boat ride!
What did you enjoy the most?
Being so close to the beach and the helpfulness of all the staff.
