The Gate Hangs High is situated in Hook Norton near Banbury and Chipping Norton. It is the ideal place for a quiet getaway to escape from the everyday hustle and bustle. Sit back and relax with a glass of wine in the garden and take in the beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding Oxfordshire countryside.
The Gate Hangs High has a traditional and homely feel, from the polished brasses hanging around the walls to the beamed ceilings and roaring log fire. This is the perfect place for a couple’s retreat.
On your visit you will also have the chance to experience a brewery tour at Hook Norton Brewery, a short 5 minute drive away. Horton Nook is one the finest examples of a Victorian Tower Brewery and is renowned for their fantastic range of award winning beers.
The tour starts at the Visitors Centre and will last approximately 1.5 hours. You will progress around the brewery and get to see their original steam engine, learn about their history and how they make their range of delicious beers.
After a tour of the stables, if they are in residence, you'll be able to see their lovely Shire horses who still deliver beer to our local pubs in the traditional way. Upon completion of the tour, it's back to the sampling bar in the Visitor Centre for a beer tasting and to collect your free half pint Hooky tour glass.
