Indulge in a quintessentially British pastime with a spot of Afternoon Tea for Two, the perfect gift experience. The 19th century tradition is enjoying something of a modern-day revival with venues all over the UK now serving up scrumptious scones, delicious cakes and savoury delights.
It’s been an institution since 1840 when the seventh Duchess of Bedford asked her footman to fetch a pot of tea with light refreshments one afternoon. The ritual soon caught on and traditional afternoon tea became a cornerstone of high society dining.
Today, it’s best known as an afternoon of sheer indulgence – and it hasn’t lost a crumb of its delectable charm. Find out for yourself with our afternoon tea deal. We’ve carefully hand-picked the best afternoon tea locations across the UK so there’s a venue to suit all occasions.

Rossett Hall Hotel,
Holly from National Accounts, August 2019
We decided to visit North Wales and have an afternoon tea at Rossett Hall Hotel. Arriving at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the gardens and entrance were. Parking was easy and right outside ‘Oscars’ the restaurant that the afternoon tea takes place. We were greeted right away by a friendly waiter and shown to our seats next to the window overlooking the garden. Our tea was brought over to us straight away and was very welcomed as the day was unfortunately cold and rainy so a hot tea did just the trick of warming us up! Our food was brought over next and was presented beautifully. There were so many sandwiches that we couldn’t get through them all (obviously we had to leave room for the cakes!). The scones were warm and went down a treat, and then on to the best bit; the cakes! There was a selection including carrot cakes, lemon and custard slices and a lemon posset. All were delicious!
After we finished the food, we spent awhile sat in the restaurant chatting and enjoying our tea and were not at all rushed to leave. We left feeling very full and relaxed and ready to finish our day exploring the beautiful countryside surrounding Rossett.
If you decide to have your afternoon tea here, be sure to visit other local attractions in North Wales – there’s loads to do!
