Vineyard Tour and Tasting for Two

Description

Many do not realise England produces its very own wine. Well, this is an ideal opportunity to find out about the English wine industry by enjoying a tour of one of England's finest vineyards followed by a tasting session.

During the tour your experienced guide will explain the history of English wine, how vines are grown on a commercial scale, the methods used at the vineyard and the reasons for the choice of grapes grown. You will also learn about the processes behind the production of wines. To complete the experience you will taste a selection of the wines made at the vineyard.

Family Steam Train Experience

Description

Take a journey back in time and enjoy a fun-filled, nostalgic day out with this Family Steam Train Experience.

This majestic vehicle has been around for over 200 years and was a key part in the growth of the Industrial Revolution. Seeing these trains up close and in all their glory brings a real sense of history to your day.

Britain boasts more railway attractions per square mile than any other country in the world. And with 100 heritage railways, 60 steam museum centres and 700 operational engines, all supported by an legion of 23,000 enthusiastic volunteers, a day out on a steam train offers people the chance to savour a bygone age of riding aboard a lovingly preserved locomotive.

Unlike the usual trip on commuter trains, this is one train journey you will not want to hurry by quickly. Instead, sit back and relax and enjoy the ride as you meander through some of the most glorious and unspoiled parts of the English countryside.

This is a fantastic day out for both adults and kids, and with a choice of scenic locations to choose from is a great way to see different parts of the country while travelling in style.

When you arrive at the venue, you will need to exchange your voucher at the ticket office for your family steam train tickets. The experience varies depending on the location you choose. Some journeys are return trips while others are all day rovers and you may be able to stop off en route to explore the local area on foot. Depending on the location, you may be able to visit other attractions at the venue such as a steam train museum.

Traditional Afternoon Tea for Two - Ultimate Choice for Two

Description

Afternoon tea has been a British institution since Anna Maria Russell, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, asked her footman to bring her a pot of tea and light refreshment one afternoon in 1840. The ritual caught on and afternoon tea became the corner stone of high society dining. These days taking tea as a light afternoon meal has become much more accessible, but has not lost a crumb of its charm. Charming hotels and traditional tea rooms provide welcoming surroundings for this decadent treat, which really is a special experience to take your time over.

On arrival you will be greeted by staff who will seat you. Your afternoon tea may vary slightly depending on which location you choose. In each case you will be treated to a selection of freshly made sandwiches, delicious scones with cream and jam, and at most locations, either fine pastries or cakes of the day to accompany your tea.

Couples Treasure Hunt

Description

Relive your childhood with this fun-filled treasure hunt. You can opt for a gentle and fun hunt for treasure or a competitive approach by splitting up and going alone! Either way this activity is unique and fun to get involved in.

The treasure hunt is held on public land in either a city, rural or London location. There are two different sets of clues which are based on things you will see as you follow the route. The straightforward clues will ask you for a question that you should be able to observe on the route, for example information on a plaque or statue. In the cryptic version, the clues are generally a bit more challenging. They may be harder to spot, require some interpretation or general knowledge - a bit like a crossword clue.

You will also be provided with three bonus rounds that you can use alongside the main clues. These include:

- A picture round - Pictures of things you can see on the route, you will just need to write down where you saw the item pictured or find the name of the building or shop.

- Pub name clues - These are cryptic clues referring to the names of the pubs or bars that you can see on or from the route. (A few routes do not include this round because there are not enough pubs - see company website for details)

- Items to collect - A list of everyday, or not so every day, items for you to try to find or make as you go round the hunt route, for example 'a picture of the Prime Minister' (perhaps you could find or buy a newspaper).

The main clues are integrated with instructions for the route that you will need to follow. The instructions tell you where the hunt starts and which streets to go down. The main clues appear in the order you can expect to see them, but the picture and pub clues are jumbled up so you need to keep a look-out at all times.

Once you have redeemed your voucher and selected your location, you will receive a PDF file pack via email. You can then decide which sets of clues you want to use, print them off, and make as many copies as you need for the number of family members and friends taking part. As many people can take part as you would like, and they can enjoy the hunt at any time.

Please note, the London and city treasure hunts are all on foot, while the rural hunts will require a form of transport. All the rural hunts and many of the others are not a circular route so have different start and finish locations.

Please note: This is not an organised event, you will receive your treasure hunt pack to use in your own time.

Brewery Tour and Tastings for Two

Description

If you have ever enjoyed a pint of beer and wondered how it's made, then this experience will answer all your questions. The basic principles of brewing beer have remained unchanged for centuries and during this tour you will see all parts of the process including: fermenting, where the sugar is broken down into alcohol; conditioning, which gives beer a smoother taste; and filtering which stabilises the flavour and gives beer its polished shine and brilliance. To complete this experience you will also get to taste some of the brewery's beers.

At the beginning of your experience you will first meet your expert brewery guide. Then you will be taken around the brewery where you will get to see what goes on behind the scenes.
