We really enjoyed our day out on Nene Valley's steam train. The conductor was very knowledgeable and entertaining, having us laughing loads throughout the journey. He also let us try on his hat! The team were also very friendly and more than happy to answer any questions we had and we did have quite a few. I was also really impressed to learn they are mostly volunteers! We got to see the beautiful Peterborough countryside and had the chance to stop at different train stations to take photos of the steam engine and explore the traditional carriages which have been really well maintained. We were very lucky to visit on a day with such good weather, too. Although we were sad to see Thomas the Tank Engine was not feeling too well we wished him a swift recovery! I would definitely recommend this experience as a unique gift for someone, especially if they have an interest in Britain's heritage, or even for yourself if you fancy a day out with a difference.
